Shelby McCaw is a kindhearted and understanding counsellor who supports teenagers and adults on their mental health and personal growth journeys. With nearly five years of experience as an Accredited Family Mediator with the Ontario Association of Family Mediation (OAFM), Shelby brings a wealth of expertise in family mediation and co-parenting counselling. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Lakehead University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a specialization in Human Development from Trent University.
Shelby specializes in helping clients navigate periods of transition, uncertainty, and self-discovery. She works with individuals facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, identity concerns, and the emotional impact of life changes such as starting university, career transitions, separation, or divorce. She understands how disorienting these moments can feel and is dedicated to helping clients regain confidence, clarity, and emotional stability.
Her approach to therapy is client-centered, collaborative, and rooted in empathy. Shelby prioritizes creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Drawing on a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, she tailors each session to the individual’s unique needs, helping them explore their experiences, build coping strategies, and move toward meaningful growth.
Shelby believes that with the right support, individuals can not only cope with life’s challenges but also emerge stronger and more resilient.
Outside of her professional life, Shelby enjoys spending time with her cats, relaxing with pizza, being outdoors, and connecting with loved ones.
